The Pittsburgh Mandolin Society performed for a sell out crowd at the historic Teutonia Mannerchor German Club on Pittsburgh's North Side. The full orchestra was first on the program, and the members gave their finest performance ever. Guest Vocalist Joan Dickerson brought the house down with her rendition of "Lilli Marlene", sung completely in German. Smaller ensembles including the Great American Gypsies, The Consort, The Trio, and others, provided entertainment during the delicious buffet dinner. Due to the overwhelming demand, we expect to repeat this event next year! |

The Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra gave a special St. Patrick's Day performance for the residents of the Friendship Village Retirement Community in Bridgeville. There was a lot of toe-tapping during "Irish Washerwoman", and Christen's sweet soprano vocals on "Danny Boy" brought rousing applause from the audience. And, fortunately for the Society, it looks like he has inherited his father's musical talent! Jorge says that, although he has not yet learned how to play the guitar, he already has demonstrated his fine strong tenor voice. |
